Dr. Annie Alwine grew up in Burnsville, MN. She obtained her B.A. in Biology and Spanish at Gustavus Adolphus College before attending medical school at the University of Minnesota. She completed her residency in Milwaukee, WI and did her fellowship in neonatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. During fellowship, Dr. Alwine's research focus was on the role of Integrin a3b1 in lung development for which she received the Marshall Klaus Perinatal Award and Vanderbilt's Dr. William R. Long Fellowship Award. She is passionate about extremely premature infants and their overall outcomes, and she is grateful for the relationships she makes with families during their NICU hospitalization.
