Dr. Charlotte Van Dorn received her medical degree in 2008 at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Following medical school, she completed her residency training in pediatric and adolescent medicine at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in 2011. She went on to complete fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Utah in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Following her fellowship training, she returned to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester with dual appointments in the divisions of pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric cardiology. She is currently an assistant professor in pediatrics and the associate medical director for the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. Her current research interests include evaluating the factors associated with early post-operative ICU outcomes in congenital and adult congenital heart disease. She also has an interest in mechanical support strategies including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventricular assist device use in children.
