About Keith Lawson Cavanaugh

About The Provider

Dr. Keith L. Cavanaugh is boarded in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine. He is a partner with Children's Respiratory and Critical Care Specialists, P.A. and is the former Medical Director of The Sleep Center at Children's Minnesota. He attended medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. After completing his residency at the University of Minnesota in Combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics in 2000 and a year as Chief Resident at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, he went on to the University of Colorado and National Jewish Health to complete his respective fellowships in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He was an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and the Associate Director of Children's Hospital Sleep Center at The Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado before moving back to Minnesota in 2009.

His interests include treating respiratory disorders in individuals with chronic illness including neuromuscular disease and obstructive sleep apnea, educating providers and families on the importance of sleep, helping asthmatics enjoy life without limitations and working with medical students and residents.

He has been recognized by MPLS. St.Paul Magazine for his Pulmonary expertise with Top Doctor honors in 2016 and 2017. He has been recognized in Minnesota Monthly magazine for his Sleep expertise in 2014 and 2016. He has had the honor to speak on topics related to breathing and sleep at Local, Regional and National meetings and has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to Second Hand Smoke, Cystic Fibrosis and Sleep.

Dr. Cavanaugh and his wife Maggie, a Minnesota native, live in Shoreview, MN with their three children. He enjoys hiking, skiing and the hope to golf, but most important to him is spending time with his family.
