About Mark Richard Schleiss

Dr. Mark R. Schleiss is the American Legion and Auxiliary Endowed Research Foundation Chair in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Schleiss trained in Pediatrics at the Oregon Health Sciences University followed by a Fellowship in Molecular Medicine at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where he first studied cytomegalovirus molecular genetics. Dr. Schleiss has research interests in preclinical models of congenital cytomegalovirus, human clinical trials of cytomegalovirus vaccines, maternal and newborn screening, and molecular pathogenesis of infection, with an emphasis on viral immune modulation. His laboratory is funded by the National Institutes of Health and March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
