I care for hospitalized children at Children's Minnesota at both the Minneapolis and St. Paul locations. I also provide care for both adults and children at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. As a physician working in the hospital, I have the opportunity to help my patients and their families during what is often one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. I've spent time in the hospital with my own children and know how stressful it can be. I like to spend as much time as possible with kids and their families, hearing their personal stories and getting to know them as people who are so much more complex and vibrant than whatever health issue might be going on. I'm truly privileged to do the work I do.
I am a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, and Society for Hospital Medicine (SHM). I have a special interest in medical education and am involved in multiple ways across Children's, Regions, and the University of Minnesota. I am an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota.
My free time is spent mostly with my wife and kids. We enjoy walking and biking the trails in the Twin Cities (usually to a coffee shop or playground) and hike when we are able. I'm trying to perfect the art of instilling just the right amount of mischief in my own kids. There's always a new project for me around the house or out in the yard. During the winter, I am also very active in curling.
