Melissa Ann Hammerschmidt, PA-C

Melissa is a board-certified PA who joined the Children’s Neurosurgery team in May 2021. She graduated from Midwestern University - Downers Grove in 2019 with a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies and moved back home to practice in Minnesota. Prior to PA school, she earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences and worked as an emergency department medical scribe. She wrote her honors thesis on the efficacy of community health advocacy training programs after traveling to Sierra Leone with West African Medical Missions and helping facilitate such a program. Melissa is passionate about providing quality patient care with a strong focus on educating patients and their families. In her free time, Melissa likes to maintain an active lifestyle with her husband, cheer on Minnesota sports teams, and spend time with family and friends.
