About The Provider

Dr. Michelle Linke Shafa is a board-certified psychiatrist with a warm and empathetic approach. She believes the strongest treatment plans are created in partnership with patients and their support systems. She is passionate about understanding each child's unique development and supporting diverse populations, especially those navigating their identities in the world around them.

Her path to medicine was inspired by her years as an educator and experiences as an EMT. She holds a Master's in Education and is a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) practitioner. I appreciate the care my son and I received while we were in our appointment. Everything went well except for the long wait list to get to be seen in the first place. Most of our issues have resolved themselves over the past year while we were on the wait list and to have some guidance and services in that meantime would have been very helpful. I'm glad we're finally off the wait list and the care was good, but a way to shrink that wait list down would be amazing. Thank you so much. Bye.

She is excellent and worth the wait. In my experience, most psychiatrists know what they're doing, but are hard to connect with. Dr. Michelle is warm, patient, and reassuring. She explained her job to our 12-year-old, listened to and validated all of our concerns, and shared a plan for the next step. We were on a waitlist from May or June until November. The extra month was due to my teaching schedule. The wait is the only reason I'd be less likely to recommend this office-although I don't know if any other child psychiatry offices have shorter wait times.

She was a good listener and came back later in the conversation to a question I had about a particular medicine. She is very knowledgeable about the medications and explained them in ways that were very accessible to me as a non medical person. She understood my values and priorities and included them as variables in explaining impacts of taking or not taking particular medications. She is easy to talk with and my teenage son said so as well regarding the time he was on the call with her.
