I feel really, really upset about what happened. I thought I'd calm down after four days, but I haven't. They said they wanted to do a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia even though they couldn't hear anything. I asked for an ultrasound instead, but they said they don't do those. I said okay to the x-ray. Then when we got down there, the x-ray technician took four chest x-rays. That's a lot. I should've been in the room with her, so I could say no. I was waiting outside the room. She also had x-rays last fall that a walk-in place wanted to do for an ankle injury. Last summer you guys also did a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia, and a different place did one when she was little too. All of the x-rays were recommended. I never asked for any of them. I just feel like she is getting so much radiation because of providers acting out of an abundance of caution. I feel so guilty about it. I feel like I should've protected her better. I should've said no more because she has never been bad enough where more extreme measures really needed to be taken. The provider this time prescribed her amoxicillin anyway even though her chest x-ray looked fine. If I would've known that she was going to prescribe her an antibiotic for possible pneumonia even without it showing up on a chest x-ray, I would've declined the x-ray. I knew she wasn't bad enough to need hospitalization or anything like that. If the antibiotic was going to be given no matter what the chest x-ray said, then I wish she wouldn't have had the chest x-rays at all. I just feel so incredibly upset about this.
