Transplant surgery in children is technically challenging and has to be very precise, however the results are very rewarding, and that is what makes my job all worthwhile. I have been a Staff Transplant Surgeon for 21 years now and have performed over 1200 organ transplants. Currently, I am the principal surgeon that directly supervises all aspects of pediatric transplantation surgery (liver, kidney, intestine, pancreatectomy-islet cell transplantation) at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital.
